Studio Policies

About Lessons

• Lessons are 45 minutes long

• Please be on time for all lessons.  Due to scheduling, late arrivals to lessons must still end on time. 

• Students should attend each lesson with their music books or tablet, a water bottle, and a pencil.​

• Mendez VocalWorks studio is located at
  2026 W. St. Emillion Dr. in Hayden, Idaho.

• I will provide each student/family instructions on how to access the studio from the driveway.

• Please note: the studio is located down a flight of stairs.

Students-Minimum Requirements

• Age: Adolescent through adult.

• For students younger than the minimum requirements, Mendez VocalWorks offers voice lessons in combination with ukulele or guitar lessons.

• Be willing to acquire basic music literacy or have an expectation to learn or read music.

Studio Etiquette

• Please silence and turn off all notifications on your electronic devices prior to the lesson starting.

Practicing

The only way to improve is through practice. Consistent and intentional practice will lead to consistent improvement and growth.

• Devote time to daily practice, with at least 15 minutes per day.

• You can log your practice time through the Mendez VocalWorks music portal.

• Mendez VocalWorks will provide recordings of vocal exercises and other valuable resources to help in your daily practice.

The portal will have all your scheduling calendar, payment, and resource information for lessons

• Registration for the portal is required.

• Check calendar, lesson schedules, and manage lessons.

• View past lesson notes, recordings, and digital resources.

• View invoices, make payments, track billing.

• Receive automatic lesson reminders by email or text.

Payment

• Invoices for lessons are sent monthly, and payment is due on the 1st day of the month.  Automatic payment is available.

• Payments are accepted online through the portal via credit/debit card.  Cash and checks are also accepted.  Please make the checks payable to Max Mendez.

Cancellation Policy

• Cancel lessons through the portal or by emailing maxjmendez@gmail.com or texting 208-930-9626.

• Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice cannot be rescheduled, unless due to illness or emergency.

• Lessons cancelled more than 24 hours in advance can be rescheduled through the portal.

• Mendez VocalWorks asks that students not attend lessons when they are ill.

• If Mendez VocalWorks cancels a lesson, it will be rescheduled at a mutually available time.

Studio Classes, Masterclasses, and Recitals

• Occasionally, Mendez VocalWorks will host or participate in studio classes, masterclasses, and recitals outside of individual lessons.

• These are not required activities, but are offered to students as they fit their development.  These are volunteer opportunities.

• In some cases, an additional fee may be required.

Participation, Responsibility, and Liability

• By participating in (signing up and paying) voice lessons in Mendez VocalWorks, the student/parent affirms that they understand and agree to all policies and procedures listed.  The student/parent assumes full responsibility for any risk or personal injury, and agrees to hold the instructor harmless from any and all liability.  Mendez VocalWorks is not responsible for any illness, injury, loss or damages suffered by any person.
